Jo Sieber

I had no ambition to become a musician, but I picked up a guitar for two seconds and haven't let it go since.

1960s guitarist Slash quote

A guitarist since the age of 10, Jo Sieber started out at the classical conservatory before enrolling at BBM74, a rock music school in Neuchâtel, where he studied until he was 21. It was at this age that he took the entrance exams for the EMA (formerly ETM) in Geneva, where he obtained his guitarist's diploma after 4 years of study in 2011. Since then, he has been teaching and practicing music professionally.

In 2014, Jo Sieber moved to Nashville for 3 months, to perfect his vocal skills and immerse himself in the musical milieu of the city known as one of the cradles of blues. He has taught, and continues to teach, for a number of schools in France and in the canton of Neuchâtel in Switzerland, as well as offering his skills to artists in French-speaking Switzerland, in Vevey, Geneva, Valais, Neuchâtel and Fribourg.

He is also an author, composer and performer. With 2 albums to his credit, he now tours with a band under the pseudonym Sir Folk. He also has a music studio in the town of Neuchâtel, which he has equipped over the years and where he gives lessons and works on his musical projects.

Jo Sieber's instruments of choice are vocals, guitar and bass. Occasionally, he also plays piano and, if required, drums. His favorite styles are pop, folk, rock, soul, blues, jazz, reggae and more.
“The musicians I admire most are the versatile ones, those who are able to adapt at high level, to any situation, even in an emergency. That's why I love the blues, and jam sessions. I like music when it's instinctive, reactive rather than cerebral. And instinct, contrary to what you might think, can also be worked on.”
